Westfield Derby – the largest retail led development to open in 2007 - was doing a cracking job securing coverage in their primary press. But as launch day grew closer, the need for coverage across a far wider catchment area became something of a pressing matter for an already pressurised team.

Having heard how we’d done the just the job for Bullring back in 2003, we were called in to deliver the consumer campaign. Charged with getting coverage right across the Derby Dales to the Peak District and beyond, the challenge was tough and the timescales tight.

But we more than met our mission. By 1200 on launch day, Derby was full. There was not a single car park space left anywhere in the city. The client could have asked for nothing more. And when the final footfall came in, the celebrations really began. 150,000 shoppers had flooded through the doors on a wet Tuesday in October – making 09.10.07 the most successful day for retail in Derby’s entire history.
